A Grand Adventure That You Can Replay!

This game is fantastic. The combat is smooth and fluent, though not as deep as it could be. The controls are spot on and the graphics are gorgeous. The cel-shaded visuals add to the experience and make you feel like you are part of an anime adventure. The game itself isn't the longest out there, but with all the extras there is 100+ hours of gameplay. You play as Jaster, a youn man on the desert planet Rosa. You soon become recruited onto a space-pirate ship. Nad thus your gran tale unfolds. I love this game and recommend it to anyone who has a PS2 and likes RPG's.: GRIMMICE
A great Level 5 Game

Many may look at this game and say, just another average RPG. However, this is much better than average. It's a game made by level 5, and well much of it has been edited for the US version, so we're in luck. The fighting is sort of like Kingdom Hearts. You fight in real time, and the encounters are random. Like Kingdom Hearts the battles appear in the actual location you're standing in, rather than loading up a new battle screen. And speaking of loading, there really are no loading times in this game, every area is just connected to the next, you keep walking and it will simply just say the name of the area you entered while you're walking. No loading. The graphics in this game are quite impressive. Everything is well detailed, and the characters are cel shaded. The other thing I've noticed is that you can see faraway objects, in other words the graphics don't load up while you're walking, only things such as npcs or chests. Making you feel a bit more emersed as you play the game. The story is quite good. Basically the game starts off with Jaster (the main character) saving his town from monsters, and he has a desire. He wants to explore the galaxy. So this is where the game comes in. Once you become a space pirate you go from world to world and explore. I really am not going to say much more than that, because of course I don't want to spoil the game. But I must say that it's story is good, but i found it to be a bit predictable. Nevertheless, the cutscenes are done well, with swifting camera angles and top notch voice acting. The Battle system is based off of what's called a Revelation Flow Chart. It's basically a chart you use to unlock abilities for each character. Most are skills to use in battle, and a few are for adding HP and elemental resistances. And one thing that I must say, is that the enemies are quite difficult. There is no magic that can restore HP, so it's all relying on items. However, as nasty as this sounds, it's not so bad. By the time you reach a certain point in the game, you practically have an infinite amount of money where buying items is nothing, so you can just buy max of every item. And, save points restore your HP, which there is an extremely high number of those in each dungeon. an estimate would be about 7. Plus, there is usually 1 or 2 shop npcs in each dungeon, so items are easily accessible. Plus, with each save point you can teleport to any other save point within that world, and quite often shops are near save points. Making it even easier to access items. So what do I have to complain about? Well, I think that the battle system isn't all that addicting. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing bad about it, but the Revelation Flow Chart doesn't make me think much, and I wasn't really interested in it's Weapon synthesis and all that other stuff. But Rogue Galaxy certainly is a great game for any RPG lover.

Words can not even describe the greatness of Rogue Galaxy. If any one of you think Final Fantasy is the best RPG Series, think again. If you're reading this review right now, go to your nearest game store and pick up a copy of Rogue Galaxy right now! And for this level of greatness, it doesn't even come at a high pricetag- $40 is not at all high. Trust me- if you are in need of a excellent game, go get a copy of Rogue Galaxy. Hell, even if you don't need a good game right now, go get it... now!

I love this game. the cartoonist graphics, the fighting, and storyline. You play a guy named jastar who is thoought to be a famous bounty hunter, by space pirates. That is as far as i'm going to say, but all and all, the characters in your party can get pretty funny at time. I could not find anything wrong with this game at all. I would recommand this game to anyone who is looking for a good rpg.

Rouge Galaxy would never had been my first choice of game. In fact, I would never had noticed this gem if not for the wonderful review of it in Gamepro. I had originally planned to buy Final Fantasy XII, but after reading the review, gave it a second thought. Because of its lower price (so what if I'm cheap?), I went with Rouge Galaxy instead. And I don't regret it one bit. The game is just what I wanted from my RPG experience! It was a rich and compelling story, had interesting characters, a functional battle system, and some of the most beautiful cutscenes I've seen in any game. I was suprised at the convincing voice-overs too. It was just as My only regret is that it had to end, but everything has to end I suppose. I would without a doubt recommend Rouge Galaxy to anyone who enjoys a good RPG every now and then.

I had a hard time deciding whether to get Rogue Galaxy or Valkyrie Profile 2 first. I went with Rogue Galaxy in hopes of seeing something new. First impressions: Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed the Dark Cloud series so far but I had difficulty choosing this game because I worried that too much would be the same. I was wrong. The handling of Rogue Galaxy was much more hands on than I expected and the story, while not completely original was more compelling than I could have imagined from looking and reading what looked cheezy and stupid on the back of the case. Graphics: I was amazed by the CGI of the game for a non square enix RPG. The real time graphics were not a huge leap from Dark Cloud 2 but you could easily tell where upgrades have been made. Voice Acting: I was pleased to no end with the voice acting of Rogue Galaxy. Steve Blum as always, makes a commanding role for himself as Zegram. (as he also did with Auron FFX and Vincent Valentine FF7DOC and FF7AC. I also noticed that Quinton Flynn also had a role but I was dissapointed that it was confined to a talking cat. His talents as Raiden in MGS2 and Axel in Kingdom Hearts 2 should have netted him a more prominent role. Voice acting in general was top notch for the most part, with the exeption of a few minor problems. Difficulty: The game has a weapon fusion system which is really the heart of your leveling up strategy. While hard to understand at first, Once it's mastered, Feel free to enjoy the game without worry. Control: The world controls in Rogue Galaxy are about what you would expect from a Action-Rpg. You can jump, but without a true platforming system, it seems that the true purpose of this is for getting over obstacles and for fighting airborne or large monsters. Which brings me to the battle system. Very reminicent of Kingdom Hearts in the way that you fight multiple enemies while your allies fight alongside you. For the most part, battle is very smooth and highly enjoyable. My main drawback is the action gauge, which while you battle continues to fall. If the battle ends before it empties, you're fine. If not you must wait for it to refill. However, once you find this concept and it's strategy out, you really wont notice it all that much. I highly enjoyed the battle system. Story: Bottom line, The story sounds bland when you hear it. But upon playing this game it overtakes the perhaps unoriginalities and leaves you with memories of something new in it's own right. Length: My biggest question with any game. Rogue Galaxy is comercialized as being over 100 hours long. The flaw, Rogue Galaxy's main quest will really take the average gamer 40 to 60 hours to complete. But, If you truly strive to unlock this game completely and get every single thing. Expect much more than 100 hours of game time. Replay Value: High This is not a game for everyone. Those of us that can't figure the weapon creation out won't pick this game up again or probably won't even finish. The story isn't for everyone with it's sometime comical nature but for those of us that truly appreciate this game for what it tries to accomplish and the memories it leaves us with, Rogue Galaxy is a game that will stay in our collection for a long time to come
