The blue sensation is back for a second adventure in what promises to be an even more thrilling ride from start to finish.
Teaching An Old Hog New TricksThe feisty blue hedgehog is once again speeding to the Dreamcast in his second adventure. Promising to be just as fun and engaging as the first, Sonic 2 will mix new and old features, along with extra mini-games and VMU-only goodies. In fact, even on the hands-on demo, which had just one playable level, Sonic was up to his old tricks: spinning, running, and jumping high to collect gold rings and avoiding villainous enemies. But the best part was controlling Sonic?s new moves?he can now grind rails thanks to his spiffy shoes and can butt heads with opponents with a powerful new somersault.
The controls weren?t the only highlight in the preview version. Sharp, colorful graphics shined at every turn, and the frame rate was phenomenal. Even with a level full of intense action, Sonic could run through an area without a hint of slowdown.
Holy Chao!
So far, the story is vague, offering only a hint that there?s a mysterious black hedgehog who?ll play a major role in the entire game. As in the original, other playable characters will be an integral part of the gameplay, including the cutesy sidekick, Knuckles, and Sonic?s old enemy, Eggman. Additionally, expect to see more of the little Chao running around, both in the game and on your VMU. Sega claims the Chao will be cuter and smarter artificial life forms than in the original, which means they?ll need extra care when you raise them.
So far, Sonic Adventure 2 seems to be on the right track to becoming a successful sequel. If the rest of the game plays like the demo, then both fans and newbies to the Sonic club will certainly enjoy this second adventure to the very end.
