BioShock EP

Part of what made Rapture such a creepy place to romp around in was the eerie and unsettling music found throughout.

The music would float in and out of hearing range, many times enhancing the terror caused by the Splicers ripping through the pregnant solitude of Rapture. This EP contains three remixed tracks by beat adept Moby and UK up-and-comer Oscar The Punk. Two tracks are old standards found in the game, and one was written specifically for the game/EP.

Bobby Darin's classic "Beyond The Sea" starts off the EP, and the remix duo has turned the classic into a bouncy little house tune, with Darin's voice sounding like it was recorded fathoms below the ocean surface. Next up is Billie Holiday's "God Bless The Child," and in keeping with the trance feel of "Beyond The Sea", the track ebbs and flows with soft synths and ethereal string sections floating along to Holiday's emotive voice. Again, the track would fit nicely at an underwater dance party, with Moby behind the tables and Holiday behind the mic.

The last track on the album takes its cues from the previous two and cuts samples from the actual game, specifically those concerning the Little Sisters. The one drawback I found to this EP is, while having a great personality of its own, it doesn't personify the emotional qualities one would find throughout the dark world of Rapture. It does, however, serve as a nice companion to the game, even one as lighthearted and more appropriate for a club as this is.

Where do I get a hold of this record? That would be fun to mix in some Bioshock, while I turn my tables!!!
