But Wait, There's More

Sweet as the game's candy-colored, madcap antics and detailed visuals look, audiophiles aren't getting the shaft either. Contributing musicians include all-stars like Akihiro Honda (Metal Gear Solid 4), Kenji Yamamoto (Super Metroid) and Koji Kondo (Super Mario Bros. series). A funky My Music feature lets you choose between classic game tunes, remixes and modern tracks and determine which songs you'd like to enjoy (and how frequently they pop up) during particular play sessions or stages. Find CDs in the middle of various levels, and you can add to your master collection as well.

But honestly, as with all details presented in this overview, these tantalizing tidbits are just the tip of the iceberg. Flush with familiar faces and bursting with nostalgic, all-ages appeal, Super Smash Bros. Brawl is bound to introduce hundreds of unforeseen new intrigues and intricacies when it ships in 2008. In fact, it's anticipated that the title's release will prove eventful enough to actually grow the Wii's install base exponentially, just as Halo 3 did for Xbox 360. Whether or not this proves to be the case, it's a given that, at minimum, thousands of homes across America will be ringing out with the sounds of happy shrieks and good-natured trash-talking shortly.

Keep your fingers crossed: As the game's February 10th release draws steadily closer, we can't but hope that it's just the Valentine's Day gift jaded joystick jocks need to fall in love with the series all over again.

The perfect Valentine's gift
