Portal named best overall game at GDC Choice Awards

Valve's first-person puzzle shooter bested BioShock, Call of Duty 4, Rock Band, and Super Mario Galaxy for the developer honor.

Despite its short length, Portal won a total of three awards at GDC including best design and the innovation award for its highly unique gameplay.

Bioshock also took home three awards for best audio, best graphics, and best story. The full list of winners are as follows:

Best Audio: Bioshock
Best Downloadable Title: flOw
Innovation Award: Portal
Best Visual Arts: Bioshock
Best Handheld Game: Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
