Less than a week after its release, The Orange Box shoots to the number one spot as the most critically acclaimed game of all time on both Xbox 360 and PC.
"By all accounts The Orange Box is exceeding everyone's expectations," said Doug Lombardi, director of marketing at Valve, in a statement. "The North American launch continues this week as retailers who experienced temporary outages over the weekend are being replenished each day"
According to Metacritic.com, a site which aggregates multiple review scores including those found on GamePro, The Orange Box has an average review score of 97/100, enough to push the game ahead of both BioShock and Halo 3 on Xbox 360, and every other game currently reviewed for PC.
GamePro gave the game a five out of five. "The Orange Box is one of the best values in video games since, well, ever," said the Associated Press.
The Orange Box includes Half-Life 2: Episode Two, the second installment in the Half-Life 2 episodic trilogy; Team Fortress 2, the multiplayer team sequel, and Portal, a game that bundles puzzles, first person action, and adventure gaming all in one. Half-Life and Half-Life: Episode One round out the five game compilation bundle.
